Andy Flynn Brickwork start works on University College Birmingham.
22/11/2012 – University College Birmingham (UCB) plans to build a brand new campus on four acres on the edge of the Jewellery Quarter.
Contractor Shepherd Construction was awarded a £17 million contract to deliver the first phase of the new campus development on behalf of University College Birmingham (UCB).
The development will replace a number of unoccupied buildings and a car park on Charlotte Street and Holland Street in Birmingham’s city centre, in a conservation area on the edge of the historic Jewellery Quarter. Designed over four floors, the new facility is set to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and will include a dedicated Postgraduate Centre, teaching spaces including three lecture theatres, a 24 hour study hub and a 200 seater café.
SafeStand® Access Equipment has been delivered to site this week to enable access to construct the internal blockwork walls.
