Safestand Used At Orpington Fire Station

Orpington Fire Station

12.12.2013 5k Design and Build Ltd have once again chosen Safestand Access System as their number one access provider. Safestand is currently being used on the new Orpington Fire Station, a project by Kier who have a long standing history with Safestand.

Mark Starling (Safety, Health and Evironmental Manager for Kier London) had this to say recently about Safestand and the level of service we provide “thank you for the service you provide and the support you offer, it makes a real difference and helps me deliver safe sites and send everyone home safely, the biggest responsibility any employer has”.

The new station will provide state of the art facilities for fire crews and have community spaces allowing members of the public access to fire safety advice. Construction work will last 12 months, with arrangements being put in place to ensure fire cover by the Avalon Road station is not interrupted during building.
Other stations set for improvements are Dagenham, Dockhead, Leytonstone, Mitcham, Old Kent Road, Orpington, Plaistow, Purley and Shadwell fire stations. Eight of the stations are being completely re-built on their existing sites and one station, Mitcham, will be built on a new site.

The move is part of a joint project between the London Fire Brigade and its private finance initiative (PFI) partner Blue3, who will deliver the design, build, financing and maintenance of the stations for 28 years.
