Swift Brickwork start on White Collar Factory Build

08/07/2015Brookfield Multiplex has started construction on White Collar Factory at Old Street roundabout in London.  The £105m project will be built in the heart of London’s emerging ‘Tech City’ district.  Swift Brickwork have been carrying out the build works with the help of the Safestand® Access System to aid keeping the works safe and economical.

The White Collar Factory concept will deliver a building that is both green – 25% lower operational energy demand – and much more flexible than traditional speculative office developments, with bare concrete walls and exposed services.  Naturally ventilated spec-offices will boast low rents and running costs.

Safestand Tackles Complex Victoria Station Upgrade

20.05.2014Transport for London are investing £700m to improve the Victoria Rail Station’s overall efficiency by refurbishing and extending Victoria Underground Station, which is served by the District and Circle lines as well as the Victoria line itself.

A 50/50 joint venture team set up between Taylor Woodrow and Bam Nuttall have secured the contract and are employing Pyramid Builders Limited to tackle the architectural brick and blockwork and associated work, including all lateral restraining of the masonry panels.  Pyramid Builders Ltd have a long standing history of using Safestand Access Systems and will be using it on all brick a block works on the project. The works include a new northern ticket hall, extended southern ticket hall and all new associated passenger links.

SafeStand® at One The Elephant

24/03/2014 Bishop Developments Ltd have begun work on the landmark 37-storey tower comprising 284 new homes, One The Elephant. The development is the latest step in the £1.5bn regeneration of Elephant & Castle, which is being delivered by Lend Lease in partnership with Southwark Council.

Bishop Developments Ltd have chosen to use SafeStand® Access Systems as their preferred choice for low level access systems. The development is set to provide around 3,000 new homes as well as shops, restaurants, community facilities and public spaces over the next 15 years. Lend Lease is delivering the regeneration using its integrated property model. As well as funding and developing the homes, it is also acting as the main contractor. The first new homes are scheduled for completion in autumn 2015. Lend Lease is also delivering the International Quarter, a new £2bn commercial district at Stratford City in the Olympic Park which will include 350 new homes.

Safestand Ltd Supplies Thameslink Rolling Stock Project

10.12.2013 VolkerFitzpatrick is designing, constructing and commissioning two depots over the next three years at Hornsey in north London and Three Bridges near Crawley in West Sussex. The depots are being built simultaneously by two in-house specialist project teams.  KLF Construction Ltd is currently using Safestand Access Systems as it’s preferred low level access system at the Hornsey depot, which is expected to be completed in 2016.

The Hornsey depot is being constructed within a live operational rail environment adjacent to the East Coast mainline and the existing Hornsey depot. The project comprises the co-ordinated redevelopment of two separate areas of existing infrastructure, including the existing operational depot and the derelict sidings immediately to the north of the existing depot. The work involves the widening of two existing bridges, a new three road, 12-car, maintenance shed, two carriage washing machines, offices and all associated depot infrastructure. Alterations to the existing depot are being undertaken in close consultation with the train operating

Safestand Transforming Tottenham Court

19/04/2013 Crossrail are working alongside TfL on a £1bn transformation of Tottenham Court Road Station, the biggest transport investment in the West End for decades.

Pyramid Builders Limited have been awarded the brick and blockwork package and have chosen to use Safestand® Access Systems as their safe method for working at height.  With the expected rise in passenger numbers interchanging between London Underground services and Crossrail in 2018, the existing station is being upgraded to meet the expected rise in demand for this key central London station for years to come.

Alongside the upgrade of the existing tube station, Crossrail is building a new station the length of three football pitches four storeys underground.  A new street level ticket hall will be constructed at Dean Street, with the station box continuing five levels below ground at a depth of around 25m, providing access to the new Crossrail platforms.

Swift Brickwork to Refurbish Police Station

06/12/2012 Swift Brickwork Ltd have recently been awarded works at Brixton Police Station, the project is part of a refurbishment programme of four Police Stations by Metropolitan Police, led by Wates.

The four police buildings (Brixton, Kingston, Walworth and Colindale) which are core to the estate, will enhance the operational capacity and enhance existing custody facilities of each building.
