SafeStand® Clocks Up A Dozen Crossrail Contracts

06/07/2015 – SafeStand® recently supplied its twelfth Crossrail Contract with SafeStand® Access Systems.

Crossrail is Europe’s largest infrastructure project. Stretching from Reading and Heathrow in the west, across to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, the new railway will cover over 100km of track including 21km of new twin-bore rail tunnels and ten new stations. From improving journey times across London, to easing congestion and offering better connections, Crossrail will change the way people travel around the capital. When Crossrail opens in 2018, it will increase London’s rail-based transport network capacity by 10 per cent and dramatically cut journey times across the city.

Safestand Tackles Complex Victoria Station Upgrade

20.05.2014Transport for London are investing £700m to improve the Victoria Rail Station’s overall efficiency by refurbishing and extending Victoria Underground Station, which is served by the District and Circle lines as well as the Victoria line itself.

A 50/50 joint venture team set up between Taylor Woodrow and Bam Nuttall have secured the contract and are employing Pyramid Builders Limited to tackle the architectural brick and blockwork and associated work, including all lateral restraining of the masonry panels.  Pyramid Builders Ltd have a long standing history of using Safestand Access Systems and will be using it on all brick a block works on the project. The works include a new northern ticket hall, extended southern ticket hall and all new associated passenger links.

Safestand Transforming Tottenham Court

19/04/2013 Crossrail are working alongside TfL on a £1bn transformation of Tottenham Court Road Station, the biggest transport investment in the West End for decades.

Pyramid Builders Limited have been awarded the brick and blockwork package and have chosen to use Safestand® Access Systems as their safe method for working at height.  With the expected rise in passenger numbers interchanging between London Underground services and Crossrail in 2018, the existing station is being upgraded to meet the expected rise in demand for this key central London station for years to come.

Alongside the upgrade of the existing tube station, Crossrail is building a new station the length of three football pitches four storeys underground.  A new street level ticket hall will be constructed at Dean Street, with the station box continuing five levels below ground at a depth of around 25m, providing access to the new Crossrail platforms.
