Product Re-Launch: SafeStand® Triple Guardrail System

In 2021, association with both MACE Group Safety and Construction Departments, as well as the MACE supply chain, SafeStand® Ltd developed a variant to the standard double guardrail for SafeStand® Access Systems. Where required, installation of a third guardrail on the working platform can provide additional protection whilst working at height. Following the standard erection process detailed in the SafeStand® Training Guide, there are a few additional steps to allow for a third guardrail to be installed whilst on the platform.

In accordance with the SafeStand® Training Guide, once the double guardrails and toe boards have been installed, you are ready to fit the third guardrail system.

This is achieved by inserting the SafeStand Post Extender® (Diagram A) into the tops of both the fixed and removable front posts on the SafeStand® Uppers.

Once the SafeStand® Post Extenders have been fitted on either side of the platform, install the top guardrails (Diagram B), one bay at a time, into the locating lugs/receptors, working your way towards the access point.

After all top guardrails have been installed, fit the SafeStand® Access Gate Bracket by locating the bracket pin into the SafeStand Post Extender® (Diagram C). The SafeStand® Access Gate can then be installed. The gate incorporates a SafeStand® Post Extender and should be located into the fixed front post of the SafeStand® Upper (Diagram D).

Once the gate has been installed, remove the mid and lower guardrails by swinging them inwards. Before closing the gate, remove the two handrails completely.

Always carry out a “Before Use Check” after any alterations.

Prior to using the working platform, a final inspection must be completed to confirm the system has been erected correctly. This should be carried out in accordance with the Inspection Checksheet located at the rear of the Training Guide, Product Catalogue or the SafeStand App.
