BBC HQ in Cardiff is Taking Shape

The building currently under construction in Cardiff city centre is being built by ISG who have subcontracted the brick and blockwork package to Reussir Ltd, the building works are expected to be finished in spring 2018. Reussir have once again chosen to use Safestand® Access Systems as their preferred low level internal access system.

The finished building will be five storeys high, totalling 180,000 sq ft There will be 4,000 sq ft of retail space on the ground floor, this element will be owned by Rightacres Property – the Cardiff-based property development company behind the wider Central Square scheme.

The Newbury Racecourse, Dawnus Construction

18.05.2017 – Dawnus are undertaking the design and construction of new, BREEAM Excellent targeted racecourse facilities at the existing racecourse in Newbury. The Heartspace forms a critical development landmark of the overall masterplan of Newbury Racecourse. This project is the first phase of multiple planned schemes which are collectively referred to as the Heartspace Redevelopment.
This new development will integrate enhanced racing and leisure with improved facilities, an enriched visitor experience and new management accommodation for staff of the racecourse.
The first phase of construction will consist of several items; careful dismantling of pavilions, extension to the owners and trainers car park, entrance demolition, new west entrance and horseman’s club facility, two new entrances to create a more attractive, customer-friendly arrival experience, administration office above the horseman’s club, new pre-parade ring with saddling stalls adjacent, expansion of the existing parade ring to include a completely new winners’ enclosure, repositioned pavilion suites, and landscaping around the grandstands. SafeStand® Hits Its 12,000th Hire Contract

28/10/2015 – SafeStand® is delighted to announce that we have supplied our 12,000th Hire Contract which has been delivered to Natta Building Company Ltd for their site near Fleet in Hampshire. Lil Buckle, head of plant for Natta, was delighted with the news.

SafeStand® helps out at the Port of Tilbury

20/10/2015 BF Brickwork has started work on their newly awarded project at the Port of Tilbury and have chosen SafeStand® as their chosen access system. The Winvic Construction site which is situated at Berth 45 is a £20million state-of-the art temperature-controlled distribution centre at the Port of Tilbury in partnership with NFT Distribution.

The centre is set to be the largest refrigerated (“reefer”) quayside facilities in Europe. On the doorstep of one of the UK’s major road links (The M25) as well as sitting on a waterway to Europe and beyond, the distribution centre will benefit from the latest distribution technology systems and is expected to create 500 new jobs.

The distribution centre is targeted to be open for business by late 2015. It will have capacity for 25,000 pallets within 230,000 sq ft. and be able to handle more than 2.5 million cases per week.

8build and Berkeley Homes at No1 Tower Bridge

14.10.2014 – 8build are using the SafeStand® 1200 system to complete works to the prestigious No1 Tower Bridge development. 8build have chosen SafeStand® as their preferred access system for works to be carried out on the swimming pool and will also be doing fit out works on some of the penthouses. The Berkeley Homes development comprises of 9 blocks of a total of 396 residential units, commercial, cultural spaces and a single storey basement area.

10/07/2014 – Following a successful onsite demonstration at their factory in Lostock Lane in Bolton, the Health and Safety team at Severfield have decided to use SafeStand® Access Systems as their preferred choice of low level access equipment in their Bolton factory.

The SafeStand® Access Equipment will predominantly be used for finishing and inspection works to large girder trusses being fabricated for new bridge installations throughout the UK.

Partnership with HSE and WWT In The Midlands

17.06.2014 On Tuesday 17th June 2014 SafeStand® Ltd attended the Working At Height  SHAD (Safety & Health Awareness Day) at Broadstreet Rugby Club, Coventry and demonstrated SafeStand® Access Systems to the attendees.

The event was organised by the local WWT (Working Well Together) and HSE teams as well as some principal contractors including Carillion. The aim of the event was to raise awareness of the safety issues surrounding work at height within the construction industry and to give practical advice on how to control and avoid risks. Presentations at the event were made by Matthew Whitaker (HSE Inspector) and Tony Hall (WWT) as well as a number of industry professionals.

Practical presentations/demonstrations of good management and practices were made by various nationwide suppliers including SafeStand® Ltd.

The event was attended by almost 100 people. The presentations were well received by the attendees and increased their awareness of potential hazards in the construction industry and ways of overcoming them.

Safestand Tackles Complex Victoria Station Upgrade

20.05.2014Transport for London are investing £700m to improve the Victoria Rail Station’s overall efficiency by refurbishing and extending Victoria Underground Station, which is served by the District and Circle lines as well as the Victoria line itself.

A 50/50 joint venture team set up between Taylor Woodrow and Bam Nuttall have secured the contract and are employing Pyramid Builders Limited to tackle the architectural brick and blockwork and associated work, including all lateral restraining of the masonry panels.  Pyramid Builders Ltd have a long standing history of using Safestand Access Systems and will be using it on all brick a block works on the project. The works include a new northern ticket hall, extended southern ticket hall and all new associated passenger links.

Morgan Sindall & SafeStand® team up to construct Retirement Village in Corsham

28/05/2014Morgan Sindall has won the first phase, valued at £18m, of the £60m development to construct 86 residential units on the site of the former HMS Royal Arthur Navy Training College in Corsham, Wiltshire.

Morgan Sindall approached SafeStand® to aid in reducing the access costs while helping to deliver on an already tight programme. The SafeStand® 800 4 Board system is being used to construct all the internal blockwork walls.

HMS Royal Arthur was established as a training base in 1939. The site consisted of classrooms, offices, a parade ground and an assault course. Sailors were trained at the site before returning to sea. Between 1945 and 1947, the site was used as a Polish refugee camp before the Navy took it back under its control. The land has been vacant since 1995.

The village at Royal Arthur Park has been designed by London-concept architect, Pencil and Ink and will consist of clusters of courtyard apartments built around wellbeing and social facilities
On completion, Royal Arthur Park will have 221 residential units and benefit from a range of leisure facilities, including a restaurant, library and a wellness centre, complete with pool, sauna, and treatment rooms.

Morgan Sindall has been tasked with the construction of the first phase to build 86 residential units with handover due in November 2014.
