08/05/2014 – Shepherd Construction secured the £16m job to build a new library for the University of Leeds.

Work started in August 2013 on the first city-fronting building that the University has commissioned for over 30 years. Cara Brickwork Ltd have won the blockwork package to construct the new undergraduate library and have chosen SafeStand as their preferred means of low level access to carry out the works.

The Library which is due to be complete at the beginning of 2015, is designed to provide flexible training rooms, community classrooms, 1 000 reader seats, space for 6 800 linear metres of shelving to accommodate core text books, 170 fixed PCs and a new café.
